James Tonner aka Mr Mumbles

Captain of Team Tonner and by God if you're on his team you'll have to perform. Famous for his competitive nature he has the sulking ability to match a 3yr old when defeated. His legacy will be of a man who knows nothing of the phrase "crossing the line" when it comes to a slagging and a true performer when the heat is on.  James will be under some strict instructions when it comes to the day of competition by the other half and we all know who wears the pants in that relationship. The only weakness is if he gets paired with his brother or the Gimp then sparks could fly as he has some great patience.

My Beve Profile

Name

Captain James Tonner aka Mumbles

Favourite Beve Moment

Can’t have a favourite moment until I have lifted the trophy as a winner but coming in to clubhouse at the midway point in 2009 to see a rather sheepish Brother in Law, Scott Thomson who had just lost after talking himself up for the previous six months was good fun.

Worst Beve Moment

That 3 wood at the 18th on the Carrickstone, one day I will hit that club straight!

Your Best Shot in the Beve

A full wedge shot at the 13th in the 2008 Fourballs. Monty and Young were getting close again but that was the killer. Hit it to two feet but as usual Andy still made me putt it.

Best Shot by an opponent

Much as it pains me to say it, a putt by Andy on the 16th Green in the 2008 Greensomes. Me and Scott W had been behind all game but thought we were going to draw level until Andy put an off the green 60ft putt to an inch for a half. Gutted!

Toughest Beve Opponent

2009 saw myself and Brian Lironi slug it out over 36 holes with both matches going down the 18th. An honourable point each was a fair result and a victory to the famous Beve match up system.

Favourite Beve Story

It will take some amount of trying to beat the Ryan boat story though McGill tried hard in 2009 and the Law Man has life Beve membership for his drinking exploits and ‘that’ photo.
