2009 Pish Cup Winners

The Pish Cup is awarded each year to the pairing who take the biggest beating on the course. However, in 2009 this was even more hotly contested than the Beve Trophy itself. After a host of 4 hole victories in the morning, it seemed that the pairing of Ian Strain and Stephen McGill had played themselves into the Beve record books after taking a 5&4 pumping in the fourballs. However, when it transpired that Ian had retired hurt after 11 holes, the organising committee had to look to the players who had taken the biggest combined beatings of the day. There was no contest. Davidson had slumped to a 4&3 defeat in the morning and Clark a 4&2 before the deadly duo paired up to endure a 3&2 in the afternoon. Captain Tonner was, of course, delighted.
