Hare/O'Shea (Team Rush) beat Clark/Shamash (Team Tonner) 2&1
An early lead for O’shea and Hare was cancelled out by a remarkable birdie by Shamash on the SI1 fifth hole, and was immediately followed by a few excellent clutch putts by Clark. The game remained very close, with the match at all-square on the tenth tee after a dramatic half on the tricky par-3 ninth which involved lost balls by Clark and O’Shea and holed twelve-footers for par by Shamash and Hare.
A very classy birdie by O’Shea on the tenth hole put Team Tonner one-up, and eight consecutive pars by Hare before and during the heavy rain shower saw the match finish 2&1 on the seventeenth green – but only just, as a valiant long-range birdie putt by Clark narrowly missed, otherwise the game would have gone to the 18th.
