The inaugural Beve Trophy was a day of many firsts. It was the first “competitive” golf match Adam had participated in, the first time Joe had worn a Royal Blue polo shirt and the first time anyone had seen Ryan at 9am not stinking of booze and fornication.

The match started off in erratic fashion, with both partnerships struggling to find any sort of rhythm. However by the 5th or 6th hole it became clear that Jim’s pre-season from had been a little bit of a red herring (i.e. T.B = Total Bandit). His powerful, if wayward driving combined with Joe’s majestic/lucky short game, meant that by the turn Eddie and Adam were put firmly on the back foot.

In typical Team Tonner fashion, Adam and Eddie mounted a stirring fightback, but in the end this was to prove nothing other than a stay of execution. Sealing their victory on the 16th hole, Jim and Joe proceeded to perform their own version of Dam Busters down the 18th. This was to prove a rather costly error.....
