2010 Fourballs - Ayr Belleisle
Hare/O'Shea (Team Tonner) beat Bilton/Rush (Team Rush) 3&2
The front nine of this match has gone down in Beve folklore as being the high point of our limited talents. Bilton fired in three birdies, as did Hare. Rush had two (including a 30 foot putt for a 2 to halve the 7th) whilst O’Shea could only contribute one. Oh aye, and an eagle.
Hare/O’Shea reached the turn in 4 under par, 1up on Bilton/Rush who were 3 under. The 10th hole was won with a scrappy bogey and it was all to play for with 8 holes to go. Unfortunately for Team Rush, the standard from both teams wasn’t quite so high on the back nine, but it was higher from Team Tonner, and they won 11, 13 and 14 to take the match 3&2 and all but seal the trophy. Nonetheless, with such a high standard on display, Captain Rush wasn’t bothered to lose in these circumstances………….
