The Matches - Match 14

2009 Greensomes - Dullatur Antonine
Kealey, J/Cook (Team Tonner) beat Kealey, K/Hoy (Team Rush) 4&3

Derek's tee shot at the 7thThis tale of two halves started brightly for the Team Rush flame haired combo, with Kealey, K/Hoy racing into a three hole lead despite a troublesome first hole.  This was despite Kealey’s newly confirmed status as the most ill prepared played in Beve history, turning up with no clubs, bag or shoes.  Things looked like they would get even better for the carrot topped pair at the par 3 7th (left) as Hoy’s mesmerising tee shot landed a cool 12ft from the hole.  However, disaster struck and one three-putt later and Team Tonner were back in the match.

It was a blow the Team Rush pair wouldn’t recover from as they failed to take another hole.  Kealey, J/Cook smelled blood and were relentless in their pursuit of victory, wrapping the match up at the par 3 15th as their opponents’ form crumbled.

This match entered the Beve record books as the “gingerest match in Beve Trophy history” thanks to the Kealey brothers and Hoy, and made golfing history as the only match ever to see the application of five litres of factor 50.
