The Matches - Match 1

2008 Greensomes - Troon Lochgreen
Clark/Shamash (Team Rush) beat Hare/O'Shea (Team Tonner) 2&1

The first shot. Not the best....Beve Classic

The historic first ever match of the Beve Trophy got off to an inauspicious start with squandered putts by both teams seeing the match remain close for the first five holes.

The game was brought to life by an excellent tee-shot by Shamash on the par-3 6th, which was conceded for the two, only to be followed in for the half by a putt by O’Shea from the fringe. It was nip-tuck from then until the beginning of the inward nine, with an exemplary short-game display by both sides.

Shamash drove the green at the par-4 13th, but Clark narrowly failed to convert the eagle putt and the hole was halved in three. The turning point came on the following hole when Shamash and Clark took a crucial two-hole lead, which they resolutely defended, ultimately winning the game on the seventeenth green.
